BACK TO WORK! The cards are dealt and we know what we have in our hands to work with. Look at your hand. There are plenty of challenges ahead, and opportunities to learn what kind of leaders we are.
We know we are going to have to find a way to do more with less. That's a fact!
Is your HR department and HR capability up to the challenge? Does your HR executive need support to supplement certain skill areas? Do you have the requisite talent and skill sets? Perhaps you need to bring in some new capability and move some less skilled people out. Perhaps a retainer based resource is more cost effective. Now is the time to do an HR Capability Assessment.
Now is the time to provide more development opportunities for you management team. We need to look for ways to do more, and be more effective with what we do, and spend less doing it.
What is the stress level in your organization? How are your employees coping with the stress they feel in all areas of their lives? What is the impact this is having on organizational effectiveness? What are you going to do about it?
Yes, the election is over, and one of the cards you were dealt is that the guy who supports EFCA was elected. This will be a Union friendly administration. Now is the time to assess your risk, and run your avoidance campaign. If you wait until you hear about card signing it will be too late. Be proactive! Please reread our earlier entries on EFCA and being proactive. Now is the time to protect your business and your employees.
