A Birthday Thank You
posted by: Steve Enright 09/24/2008
Today is my birthday. Even at this age I am still a bit of a kid about it. My family is kind enough to humor me and still play along.
In addition to feeling that perennial 17 year old again, today I am feeling particularly grateful. And since this is my Blog I have decided to use it to say thanks to the many people who have helped me make it this far in one piece. To all of you out there, and I hope you know who you are even if I forget to put your name below, a great big 'Thank You'!
Family is always first, and that is true in my case. My parents supported me throughout their lives, and worked miracles getting me through high school and college, and my wife Sharon and my children Meaghan and Ryan have been an inspiration. I obviously would not be here without them. Meaghan and Ryan, you are my smile!
As we all know, there are friends, and then there are FRIENDS. At least that is true for me. To Tim Regan, Dick Kropp and Richie Steinel, thanks for hanging in there with me.
This July I began my 11th year in my business, SJE Partners. Who would have believed I would be doing this and all the good things that have come from it. Professionally the list of people who have made significant contributions to me is long, and I know that despite all my effort, I will miss some. But here goes.....
At Blazer, my first employer after UConn, thanks to George Borozan for giving me a chance.
At The National Brewing Company, thanks to Tom McNulty, Tom Boyle, and Joe Cobb,
At Honeywell Information Systems, thanks to Ray Miciek and Bob Cooper
At Wang Laboratories thanks to Gene Shugoll, Rosallie Papoutsy, Corky Henniger, Ed Devin, Bill Benson and Bob Ano
At Union Pacific/Overnite Transportation my thanks go out to Ursie Fairbairn, Drew Lewis, White Matthews, Jim Douglas and Charlie Billingsley
And since then Bill Twomey, Gary Marshall, Ruthie Goodboe, and Doug Topolski at McGuire Woods; Dick Kropp and Pat Nadle at CCHC, Marcia Feener, Pete Giesen, Bob Webster and Eric Musser.
I also want to thank all the talented and dedicated people who were members of the many HR teams I was privileged to be part of over the years. Thanks to all of you for your loyalty and hard work, and for making me look good.
I would also be remiss if I did not have a prayer of thanks to God who makes this all possible, and to two of his best, Father Carl Young and Monsignor Robert Koll.
I wish you all the best, and thanks again.
Have fun!
